The CGO-505 is a battery-powered radiated comb generator and broadband EMC signal source covering 5 MHz to 1.5 GHz in fixed 5 MHz steps, the most popular general-purpose radiated reference in this band.
Why 5 MHz steps? Lower energy density per MHz makes individual harmonics stand out cleanly on EMI receivers, the output remains usable to the full 1.5 GHz, and faster sweeps speed up daily site checks.
Pen-style cylindrical chassis — 7″ × 1.2″ (17.8 × 3 cm), 1.5 lbs (0.7 kg) — with two interchangeable monopoles (5-inch and 12-inch) for optimal radiation across the band.
FCC Part 15 / CISPR 32 / EN 55032 radiated emissions verification — the workhorse comb generator for daily site validation in commercial EMC compliance laboratories.
OATS, SAC, and FAC site verification — reference measurements at 30 MHz, 230 MHz, and 1 GHz catch failing preamps, broken cables, and oxidized connectors immediately, before months of invalid data accumulate.
Insertion loss measurements on cables, attenuators, filters, and connectors; also serves as a stable reference for chamber-to-chamber comparisons and shielding effectiveness tests.
18+ hours battery operation on internal 6 V / 1 Ah NiMH; automatic low-battery shut-off protects baseline integrity. 20 ppm frequency stability, ±0.1 dB amplitude stability.
Individually NIST-traceable calibrated; ISO 17025 available on request. Three-year warranty.
